Why Athabasca AI
What working with us
actually looks like.
Understanding AI's potential is one thing. Building an organization that can use it well is another. Here's how we approach the difference.
Back to homeCore advantages
What distinguishes our approach
These aren't abstract selling points โ each one reflects a deliberate decision we made about how to structure our work and what to prioritize.
Clear before complex
We spend real time understanding your organization before suggesting any tools or timelines. The result: recommendations that fit your actual situation.
Canadian regulatory alignment
Our frameworks are built around PIPEDA and Canadian data governance norms โ not adapted from frameworks designed for other jurisdictions.
Ethics built in, not bolted on
Responsible AI considerations aren't a separate phase. Bias awareness, transparency, and consent frameworks run through every engagement we deliver.
Change management integrated
AI adoption is a human change process. We bring structured change management into every program, not as an optional add-on but as a core component.
Measurable engagement design
Every pilot and training program tracks real metrics โ efficiency, accuracy, team satisfaction โ so your organization makes evidence-based decisions about next steps.
Built for self-sufficiency
We build internal champions, produce reusable documentation, and structure training so your team can carry forward without depending on us indefinitely.
In depth
Professional expertise and sector knowledge
Our team combines backgrounds in organizational development, Canadian data law, and enterprise technology consulting. This means we can hold a credible conversation at multiple levels โ with HR leaders about workforce readiness, with legal and compliance teams about regulatory exposure, and with IT departments about tool evaluation and integration. We have direct experience supporting organizations in regulated industries including healthcare administration, financial services, and public sector organizations across Alberta and British Columbia.
- Multi-disciplinary team spanning tech, law, and organizational behaviour
- Direct experience in regulated Canadian industries
- Current on Canadian AI policy developments at federal and provincial levels
Technology and innovation approach
We are vendor-neutral by design โ we receive no referral fees from AI tool providers, and we don't have preferred platforms to push. Our tool evaluations in the workflow pilot program assess fit based on your process, your team's technical comfort level, and your data environment. This removes a layer of bias that's common in the advisory space. We assess tools based on practical criteria: integration complexity, data handling practices, ongoing cost, and the organization's capacity to maintain configuration without specialist support.
- No vendor affiliations or referral arrangements
- Tool evaluation based on your data environment and team capacity
- Practical focus on long-term maintainability, not feature-count
Service and client experience
Working with us is designed to feel collaborative, not transactional. Each program includes regular check-ins with both leadership and working-level staff. We adapt delivery pacing based on what's happening in your organization โ if a busy period makes the current schedule unworkable, we find a better fit. Our deliverables are written in plain language your team can actually use. And every engagement closes with a formal review session to address any gaps before we conclude.
- Flexible pacing to accommodate organizational realities
- Plain-language deliverables designed for daily team use
- Post-delivery review session included in every program
Value and transparent pricing
Our programs are fixed-fee, with everything included in the listed price. There are no change orders for scope variations that fall within the program design, and no billable hours that expand without your knowledge. The governance framework at CAD $275, the workflow pilot at CAD $580, and the enterprise program at CAD $930 each reflect the full scope of that engagement. If you want advisory support beyond a standard program's scope, we'll discuss that in plain terms before any commitment is made.
- Fixed-fee pricing โ no hourly billing surprises
- All materials, workshops, and review sessions included
- Scope discussions happen before engagement, not during
Results and measurable outcomes
We track efficiency, accuracy, and team satisfaction scores throughout the workflow pilot โ providing your organization with concrete data rather than subjective impressions. The pilot report includes a clear summary of what changed, by how much, and what it means for a broader rollout. For training programs, we assess comprehension and comfort before and after each phase, so you can see the change in your team's capability, not just hear that it happened.
- Metrics tracked throughout pilot and training engagements
- Pre- and post-program assessments for training programs
- Written pilot report with actionable scaling recommendations

Distinct features
What sets us apart
30-day post-delivery review
Built into the governance framework engagement โ a structured session one month after delivery to assess how the document is being used and address any practical questions that have emerged.
Internal AI champion development
Our enterprise program specifically identifies and develops employees who can support their colleagues' ongoing AI use โ a structural feature that extends the program's impact well beyond its conclusion.
Department-specific AI literacy
Rather than a single generic training session, our enterprise program tailors AI literacy content to each department's actual work context โ making the material relevant and immediately applicable.
Employee consent framework design
A feature unique to our governance engagement โ explicit attention to how employees are informed about and asked to consent to AI tools that affect their work. This is frequently overlooked by other providers.
